Cruises
Are Gay Cruises Worth It? In a word, Yes! All gay cruises are open to both gay men and lesbian, but some cruise operators tend to attract more men, (RSVP Vacations and Atlantis Events) or more woman (Olivia is almost exclusively lesbian) The three largest gay cruise operators, all with excellent reputations are RSVP Vacations, Atlantis Events, and Olivia. They generally sponsor gay cruises on very large and very new ships from the Norwegian Cruise Line, Holland America or other well regarded cruise lines. Typically between 1,800 to 2,800 passengers are onboard the ship. The cruises are all gay, although straight people have been known to book a cabin or two. The onboard food is top-notch and so too is the entertainment. The gay cruises tend to sail in the Caribbean departing from Florida or Texas. Some gay cruise operators offer cruises to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe and Thailand. (Some European gay cruises depart from Europe so you must fly to/from Europe to take the cruise) Most passengers on gay cruises are in their mid-20s and older. You won’t find your typical bar “twink” on a gay cruise. You will have a chance to meet an interesting group of other successful gay men and women, just like you on a gay cruise.
Resorts
The Best Gay Resorts?
Gay resorts typically offer a wide variety of quality options for gay visitors or gay people thinking of moving or retiring to a resort area. Primarily a resort area must be very welcoming, offer a wide range of quality services, from housing, entertainment to medical care, and a good standard for daily living. Palm Springs is generally considered the top gay resort for gay men and women. A warm year round arid climate, breathtaking scenery and a well established gay community long ago secured Palm Springs first place among gay resorts for both travel or retirement.
In recent years, Fort Lauderdale has also established itself as a major and growing gay resort destination. Key West and Provincetown are also both considered gay resorts, but both lack the breadth of services offered by either Palm Springs or Ft. Lauderdale. Provincetown endures long New England winters and Key West is mobbed by straight college students several times a year. However everyone does seem to get along in the traditional “Key West Attitude” There are many gay owned lodging establishments in both Key West and Provincetown. The 4th of July weekend is particularly busy in Provincetown.
